I have a plumbing emergency, what should I do?

Many appliances and fixtures have taps that can be turned off. For example, the toilet will have a valve below or beside the cistern. If you cannot locate a valve, or that doesn’t stop the leak, then turn off the mains water isolating valve to stop all the water to the property.

Once that is sorted, give us a ring, no matter what the day or time is. We will be there promptly to resolve the problem.

While waiting, remove any significant items from the area, and wipe up any water or position a container to catch the drips. If you’ve turned the mains water off, switch off the heating for the hot water as well.

Help, I don�t know where the main water shutoff valve is!

You may have been shown it as a stopcock, isolating valve or toby. This valve is normally located on the boundary near the road, usually under a blue or black plastic cover.

Remember, many appliances and fixtures have their own isolating taps as well.
